SRV Says Goodbye to One of Their Own: Rest in Peace Ben Curry
On Tuesday, May 8th, 15 year old freshman, Ben Curry was found at the bottom of the San Ramon Valley High School swimming pool. It was the fifth period PE class that had the shocking and unfortunate discovery of young Curry, who was quickly taken to the Kaiser Hospital and was sadly declared dead once there.
Although we cannot know for sure that Ben Curry’s death was in fact a suicide, it has been mentioned that he had a bad home life and had been bullied in the past.
“The school created a memorial in front of the pool where he died with flowers, posters and the basketball team left their shoes, he was on the team,” said Junior at SRV, Carly Marks.
SRV rallied around the family and friends of the diseased and decorated the pool along with the hosting of a candle vigil on Wednesday, May 9th at the football field. “We also had a candle Vigil the following day on our football field, just to remember him and everyone kinda came together as a school to support each other, ” said Marks.
We at the Page would just like to express our sorrow for the death of the young Ben Curry and share our love with his family and friends. As one community, from Walnut Creek to Danville and everywhere in between, let us show our love and support with open arms to anyone in need of it.
