Knights v.s. Dragons: Finals Edition

It all comes down to this, the number 1 seed (24-5, 10-0 in league) the Bishop O’dowd Dragons v.s. the number 2 seed (27-2, 9-1 in league) the Las Lomas Knights. This is one of the most intriguing finals game in all of the North Coast Section brackets. This game will be played on Saturday Mar. 3rd 5:00 P.M. at Saint Mary’s College. Both these teams will feature phenomenal players, for O’dowd Utah commit Naseem Gaskin, Washington commit Elijah Hardy, Cal football commit Miles Owens, Raymond Hawkins, and William Chavarin. The Knights are led by star point guard Robert Prince, as well as Nathan Robinson, Jason Holman, and Devin Payne.

Bishop O’dowd has a rich program history winning a total of 17 NCS championships, most recently in 2015, and they have also won a total of nine state championships. O’dowd has sent off a heavy amount of basketball players to colleges and some to the NBA. Most recently, alumni Ivan Rabb got drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft. Paris Austin, graduated in 2015 from Bishop O’dowd and is currently redshirting on the California Golden Bears basketball team. They can add another two to the list this year, sending Naseem Gaskin to the University of Utah, and Elijah Hardy to the University of Washington.

Las Lomas has had the season most people expected them to have after gaining star transfer Nathan Robinson from Sacred Heart Prep Cathedral. Making it to the finals has been one of their top goals this season, and finally they have done it. Now, the goal is to pull off the upset and slay the Dragons in this highly anticipated game. The key for the Knights all season has been their strong defense and their fast paced offense ran by Robert Prince. Another key will be to continue their team chemistry that has been showing this whole season, which has helped them win close games. The starting lineup: Robert Prince, Jason Holman, Nathan Robinson, Devin Payne, and Homer Kravets have been playing together ever since they were little kids. In middle school, their 7th and 8th grade competitive basketball team went undefeated both years and won the championship both years.

McKeon Pavilion is expected to be jammed packed this Saturday for this event, so if you have not already purchase your tickets online at gofan.co or come early to purchase tickets at the door. Division 3, Salesian v.s. Campolindo plays before this game at 1:00 P.M.
