Armenian Club

Bee Club

Black Student Union

Mission: “What we do is we tell the history of black culture and what we’ve done as black people to get the rights that we’ve gotten and what we want to do more to get more rights and to really explain to people the quality and the importance of it.” -Faith Spencer

Book Club

When: Thursdays at lunch in the library

Mission: “In book club, we kind of just talk about books and share what kind of books we like and recommend books to each other. We might read a few books as a club, but I don’t want to force anyone to read a book if they don’t really want to. My ultimate goal is to make sure everyone has fun this year and share our passion for books together.” -Daphne Burton

Chess Club

Mission: “Our mission statement is to provide an outlet for anybody with a desire or passion for chess, you don’t even need to know how to play chess, you just have to want to play chess. We provide supplies like chess boards, chess clocks, and chess sets and chess books if you are interested in learning.” -Joseph Toman

Christian Club

Mission: “Basically we do local and global projects to help the world, make it a better place. Our slogan is “love the world” because we want to give love and make people feel comfortable in this club. We want to do a couple drives this year, help the homeless. One goal we are going to actually do is Sisters of Charity. They serve lunch to the homeless once a month in the Golden Gate Park.” -Hannah Portner

Creek Kids Care

Mission: “To provide for the homeless shelter and help them live better lives.” -Kiki Welty

“We make art, abstract art, you don’t have to be good at art, I’m not at all and we make stationary out of it and sell the stationary and the money goes to the homeless population of Walnut Creek.” -Anya Roemer-Corminos

Eco-action Club

Mission: “We help clean up the environment by doing things like open space clean-ups, planting flowers, closing illegal trails, and going on hikes." -Erica Dungo

Feminist Society

French Club

G.I.V.E. Club (Get Involved and Value Everyone)

Mission: “We are a community service club that wants to promote equality for everybody. Especially with the circumstances of our country now, it’s more important now than ever. We are going to do sock drives for the homeless shelter, food drives, stuff like that. We are going to participate in local community service events.” -Madison Greenwood

Mission: “Our ultimate goal is to educate people about different countries and teach people about different ethnicities. Every month, we pick a different country, and we do different activities to represent the country. The last two weeks, we eat cuisine and share out what we have learned.”-Joanne Sun

Latinos Unidos Club

Mission: "The purpose of our club is to introduce Hispanic culture to students of Las Lomas and let Hispanic students know that they can feel welcomed and such at our school since students have talked about how they have a hard time finding themselves and feeling welcomed." -Maya Meza

Martial Arts Club

Mission: “It’s where if you don’t know anything about martial arts, you can still go and people will teach you. If you do know, then you can have the opportunity to teach others. There’s some sparring and you get to learn about the culture a bit. You get to do some exercises that teach you about it. My goal is to get more people and maybe a more diverse group of people so that they know more styles of it, and they can end up teaching students who don’t know anything and want to learn.” -Sarah Long

Society of Girls in STEM

Mission: “Our mission statement is empowering girls in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math and we are planning on doing community outreach. We want to bring coding to younger girls because the club was going to be Girls Who Code, but we realized that there are very few girls at Las Lomas who are interested in that, so we are broadening it. We are going to go to hackathons in the area and we are going to hold workshops to teach girls here how to code.” -Ava Mccandless

South Asian Culture Club

Student Diversity Council

Mission: “We started the club my sophomore year so like two or three years ago and originally it was created as a forum for students to come talk about issues on campus that are diversity related, whether it be race, ethnicity, sexuality, just anything. It started after our first diversity summit and we just had a lot to talk about and we didn’t have enough time to talk about it. Last year we turned it into a curriculum based class, we planned a curriculum based class for care week which we spent most of the year doing. And it was actually implemented last year through freshmen english classes which was very exciting. So this year we’re hoping to combine the two so have a discussion based class that is a safe space to teach lessons and we’ll plan another curriculum for another care week.” -Siena Terry (club leader)

Students Changing the World

Mission: “Basically, we raise funds for children’s educations who can’t afford it. Think of kids in Africa, girls in Africa, who don’t get an education. We raise funds on campus that could be through any kind of holiday bake sale or anything. All proceeds go to education. My ultimate goal for this entire year is to raise $3,000.”-Gillian Major

Tea Club

Mission: “The purpose of the Tea Club is just for people to get together and enjoy themselves and be able to express themselves while enjoying different types of tea from all around the world and enjoy snacks and just get to know each other.” -Esmeralda Sandoval
