Home, Away, or Slate? New Downtown Warriors Store Offers Them All

Customers have a wide range of choices for Warriors apparel.

On April 29, a brand new Golden State Warriors team store opened on Walnut Creek’s Main Street.

The store was opened fairly quietly, with no ads displayed on TV or social media, and not even a proper sign for the store. Only a deflating balloon arch in the Warrior’s official royal blue and California golden yellow colors was exhibited in front of the store.

It was as if a piece of the Oracle Arena was dropped downtown, for all the loyal fans to pick up jerseys of Curry, Klay, Draymond, and KD.

The store and the cheery grin of a Stephen Curry’s cardboard copy are open to the public from 10 to 9 on business days, 10 to 6 on Saturdays, and 11 to 6 on Sundays.

It’s is a great place to pick up playoff gear to support the Dubs through their 2017 playoff run. Sometimes extra playoff shirts are available at the store too if you feel the need to pickup a piece of NBA history.

The new Warriors team store is truly a Disneyland for fans. “My favorite part of the store is the atmosphere,” said grand opening attendee Corona Anya. “And the TVs streaming games add so much to the feeling of the store.”

Many came from near and far to check out the store’s opening. “I need all Curry everything! He’s my boy! The Dubs are definitely going to take it this year. I’m here to support my team 100%. I came all the way from Palo Alto to see this store,” said Elijah Moss, who rocked a Davidson College Curry jersey to the opening.

On a recent Wednesday, a dozen or so fans were standing in the store glued to the classic Christmas showdown held this sea- son between the rival Cavaliers and our own Warriors. Although the game happened six months ago, energy was still high.

“I remember watching this one with my family, the game really took me back to Christmas,” said Dale Griffin, who picked up a Draymond Green Christmas jersey because of the occasion. “I originally just wanted to see the store, but this jersey speaks to me about that day.”

The Warriors store has droves of such jerseys. Whether it be home, away, slate night, or the new stretch crossover, there’s always a full size run available at the store.

“I just think it’s really great, I’d want to go here rather than Macy’s or something to buy clothes because this store really makes you feel close. As if you were at a game,” said Felix Leonard, who bought a Warriors throwback hat.

Speaking of being at a game, there is an extremely similar store in the Oracle arena itself.

“I have actually been to the Oracle store, and I don’t think they have as much. I’ve never seen those banners at Oracle before,” said Velma Schwartz, who was referring to poster-sized replica versions of the championship banners the Warriors hang in the rafters of Oracle.

To truly feel the amazing atmosphere of the store, just head on down. The new store is on the very same street as our own Las Lomas, right next to the Giants Dugout store which is across from Crate & Barrel. The store is a little pricey with most merchandise hovering around $30 and jerseys going for $110 each.

But if you find yourself with an extra wad of cash, or some extra time to soak in the sights and sounds of a mini Oracle Arena, consider spending a few minutes in the new Warriors store.
