Boy’s Varsity Volleyball Ready for NCS
This year’s varsity boy’s volleyball team is ready and determined to take on NCS, and possibly state. In order to succeed in league and NCS, Coach Jim Changaris is working this year’s roster hard.
“He wants us to succeed and with that success he wants us to win NCS and hopefully make it to state,” said sophomore Gabe Fernandez.
Last season was very successful considering their presence at the NCS finals. Although the Knights fought hard at NCS, they didn’t come out victorious. “Last year we came in second place, which really hurts because we had a really good team,” said junior Tony Dambaryenchin.
But that hard lose only made this year’s team stronger. “Losing two years in a row really lights a fire in you,” said junior Cody Howard. “We definitely could win this year.”
Compared to last year’s roster, this year’s roster lacks experience and seniority. “Last year’s team, was old and experienced,” said Howard.
“We only have four returning players from last year,” said Dambaryenchin.
This allows for possibility and improvement for this year and years to come. “We have a lot of potential to grow this year,” said Howard.
“As time goes on, our chemistry as a team will get stronger and so will our skill,” said Dambaryenchin.
The Knights are prepared to take on all the obstacles their league has to offer. “Our biggest challenge this year would be playing against Campolindo and Acalanes,” said Dambaryenchin.
The chemistry of this year’s team is also very special. “We have a really close bond, and I think that is going to help us on the court with tough games,” said Howard.
Although the team has more younger players compared to last year, the Knights are ready to take on the challenges of the season and work hard. “We are not messing around this year,” said Howard.
