A Day in Yerba Buena

1. Chronicle Books

Chronicle books offers a quiet atmosphere to the curious and intrigued. It’s open, warm and inviting but paired with dim contemporary lights to set a soft and modern tone. The books are organized by genre, such as art and design, fashion, food and drink, not necessarily works of fiction and nonfiction. It’s a fun place to stop by and browse at the variety of books they have.

2. MOMA

The San Francisco MOMA which reopened last May draws people in with its quirkiness of art and architecture. Beneficial to the youth, they allow 18 and younger in for free. One can start with elevator or stairs which can go up seven levels. Art can range from photography, sculptures, paintings, and even alive, such as “The Living Wall” on the third floor. It also has the Sightglass cafe which is also located on the third floor.

3. Yerba Buena Gardens

Yerba Buena gardens is in the middle of one of many business areas in San Francisco. Many people enjoy the sun and sit on the benches in the upper level accompanying some garden beds, whereas others hang out in grass area on the lower level for relaxing and observing the pretty skyline or exercise. There’s plenty of sun and shade depending on where one intends to sit. Even with it being surrounded in an urban area it can be quite tranquil and has many restaurants nearby.

4. Beard Papa’s

Beard papa’s, is a cute little pastry shop catering to cream puffs, eclairs, and other pastries. Located right near Tropisueño, the shop is small and the aroma of sweets is intoxicating. There’s minimal furniture, with indoor and outdoor seating and they provide a quick service to have your pastry ready to eat.

5. Tropisuño

Tropisueño is located down an alleyway close to the Yerba Buena gardens. It’s in an affordable price range and provides authentic Mexican cuisine. It has lights strewn up with Mexican blankets hung up on some of the walls. The chips are quite addicting and they offer a variety of salsas and other dips. The staff is welcoming, and the restaurant has lots of chatter; you will feel right at home.
